The goals of this project were to achieve a calming effect through lighting design, and emphasize the serenity of the seaside environment. The light projects outwards, pouring through the pattern of the building's outer skin. This differs from traditional outdoor lighting, as it was designed specifically to emphasize the special pattern of the building exterior. It was challenge to find an LED which resists UV exposure, the air's high salinity and weather corrosion, and whose light isn't made too harsh due to the increase in color temperature, as a result of its encapsulation
"Free touch" consists of two parts of the switch and the baseplate. The switch consists of a small wafer with a new type of human body pressure sensing technology. People only need to attach it to anything they think is reasonable, and then do some natural touch, and it can light lamp. There is a card slot on the baseplate and a solar panel on the back, and the battery is charged with solar energy. When the switch part needs to be charged, just need to put wafer into the card slot."Free touch" is a new type of wireless switch, it brings a new way to open.
Inspired the by beautiful cascading mountains of Guilin in China, the lamp is composed of a base that has 3 equal length slots allowing for Photocatalytic treated acrylic mountains to be placed in random as the user wishes. These mountains can be taken out easily and compose entirely based on the user. Just like the mountains, they are helping to rejuvenate our environment and remind us on how we are intertwined with nature.
The mozaik system is made up of cables wrapped in vertical fabrics that are then separated by a fiberglass rod held by brass connectors. In these connectors the vertical cables receive the low-voltage current needed to power an LED bulb, which is covered by a hexagonal diffuser in fabric. The fabric of the tube as well as the electrical cables can be chosen in many variations of colors of the collection of the materials of the manufacturer. From the rhomboid shape of connectors, tube and cables, all kinds of compositions can be created in both height and length.
The name Andromeda comes from the famous galaxy visible to the naked eyes from Earth, and it is inspired by the macroscopic and primordial beauty of light. The lamp has two different light sources, one directed to the bottom and one diffused to the top, which can be switched on or off separately. The diffused one is based on LED edge lighting technology and creates a starry sky effect thanks to 170 different-sized holes scattered along the lower surface. The bottom one, also based on LED technology, is accessorized by an innovative and simply-to-use interchangeable lens system.
'Portal' is a led hallway designed by artist Akiko Yamashita in the weller court plaza in Little Tokyo Los Angeles in 2015. Inspired by neon light and prism, the spiral made with 7000 pixels of light welcomes visitors to the building's plaza. Color animation is changing throughout the day and night. It has become a destination portal - formally a dark tunnel - has been transformed by the designer.
