Barro Lamp captures the warmth of nature in a composition of clay and glass. This pendant lamp is made of two elements where the Mexican city of Oaxaca is the main character. Molded by San Bartolo Coyotepec craftspeople who have mastered Barro Negro since pre-Columbian times; a blown-glass dome covers the clay structure: symbolic protection guarding precious objects. Barro lamp is available in two versions: red clay and transparent shade and black clay with a gray shade.
Continue readingThis design references a quirkier side of lighting, offering a range of non-uniform, asymmetric blown glass forms that feature a hidden light source, emanating from a selection of intricate acrylic centres. Each can be viewed as a bespoke hand-crafted item yet belong to an overall aesthetic that ultimately explores the relationship between light, both natural and integral, and the singular beautiful properties of overlaying layers of twisted optical glass. Initially offered as a stand-alone pendant, future plans include table-top variations, wall lights and multi-array feature chandeliers.

Regarding to the traditional culture of local ethnic minority and the theme of antique building style of the hotel group, designers layout lighting plan by unearthing the concept of “symbiosis between architecture and people” and pursuing a sense of ritual symmetry in the central axis.
Continue readingThe traceable light should be clean, it should not be muddy. The designer has reconsidered the property of light, light is a kind of wave, should choose the simple pure light wave. Projection lamp can make the shadow clear and pure in the space, the boundary is clear. What the designer needs is this kind of true expression, in which the viewer sees the object as it is, and is not disturbed or influenced by various other factors, including the influence from light. As the diamond sutra said in the should do so view.
Continue readingThe Spa at the Euphoria Retreat, is located in Mystra. It is a four-story building, of 3.000 m2, that is carved into the base of a mountain. The lighting for each space was considered as a unique piece, contributing to the crescendo of the ultimate relaxation experience. As daylight would vary substantially from one space to another, custom luminaires were designed to imitate daylight conditions, thus harmonizing the transitions through spaces and enhancing the immersive architecture.

Providing a platform to liberate Astro's creative process and reinforce the design led approach, Capsule Collection honours the design DNA of core Astro product, but is visually unique with delicacy that quietly compliments any design scheme.
